DESTINY 2018 WAS EXCEPTIONAL
HIGHLIGHTS OF DESTINY 2018
One of the highlights of the conference was that everyone was given a memory card containing the Jesus film on in 5 Nigerian languages and Walking with Jesus video series in 2 languages to be used for evangelism and discipleship in their respective campuses and workplaces. Each participant was challenged to witness to 50 people and start discipleship with at least 5 people wiith a 6 month period. These are some outcomes from the event:
•647 participants in all attended the Destiny 2018 (including children).
•53 campuses from across Nigeria were represented.
•15 elective seminars were offered on Apologetics, relationships, Islam, digital and physical evangelism, etc.
•37 persons were convinced the Lord was calling them to full time ministry.
•89 chose to become GCMN Associates – missionaries in the marketplace.
•29 people committed to short term missions in other West African countries.
•23 students signed up open new campuses for ministry in Nigeria.
•50 persons made the “True Love Waits” Commitments to remain sexually pure till marriage.

On the eve of Easter celebration over 500 participants from different parts of Nigeria gathered together to attend Destiny
conference in Kwali Abuja during the Easter break.Destiny conferences started in 1997 in Enugu. Over the years it has become a student and young professional conference. This year’s edition was tagged “SOLD OUT.”
According to Dr. Mudasiru Yusuf, the national campus director of *GCMN: “The conference aims to address a major problem facing our society today – godly leadership. Today’s students are the leaders of tomorrow. We believe if they are thoroughly mentored and discipled to become Christ-like leaders while in school, they would play significant roles in influencing others for Christ and stand a better chance of impacting the society positively outside school. History and experience have shown that the best place to recruit workers for the harvest is higher institutions of learning.”
This year’s edition brought 482 students from 53 higher institutions of learning, 84 young professionals and youth fellowships’ leaders from with and outside Nigeria. It is aimed at helping the participants develop an intimate walk with God, train them on evangelism and discipleship and help them to make a life time commitment of service to the Lord.
One of our guest speakers who is based in Zimbabwe Mr. Tariku Fufa, director of our campus ministry in Southern and Eastern Africa shared how God has used his life’s journey and ministry experiences to disciple a few students who then raised a generation of over 7,000 disciples in his home country in Ethiopia. His testimony inspired many to trust God completely with lives, work and ministry endeavours.
Rev. Prof. Ishmael Ogobru, chaplain of the University of Jos helped every participant to understand what being sold out to Jesus meant. According to Prof. Ogobru: “To be sold out is to sacrifice, plunge into, to be dedicated to God and it has to be done willingly and voluntarily.”
TWO WEEKS AFTER DESTINY CONFERENCE
Four students from a major university in the Northeast of Nigeria decided to travel for over 14hours to Abuja to attend Destiny 2018. They were coming from a region of where Christian are facing intense persecution but after Destiny they were challenged to be SOLD OUT on their campus. Two weeks later these passionate students had mobilized 70 students to join hands with them to reach their campus for Christ. 49 signed up as key volunteers who will join hands with them make disciples among fellow students. Praise the LORD!
